The police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for the prisoner who escaped on Wednesday from in front of the Georgetown Prison.
Police gave the man’s name as Suraj Narine Singh and said he was serving five years for robbery under arms.
Prison Director Dale Erskine had told Stabroek News that the man had escaped while working outside the prison but he could not give any details on how the escape occurred but said an investigation had been launched.
The police said the man’s last known address was Lot 5, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and they are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of the man to telephone 225-6411, 225-2700, 225-8196, 226-2917, 911 or contact the nearest police station.
