Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted a woman, whose dog reportedly bit another woman, bail in the sum of $30,000 when she appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Zora Marques of Thomas Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to the charge of having a ferocious dog that caused bodily harm to a woman.
It is alleged that on January 25, at Lot 11 Thomas Street, Kitty, Marques was the owner of a ferocious dog that attacked Bibi Khan.
However, according to Marques’s lawyer, the dog is not a vicious or ferocious dog but a normal “rice-eater”. He said that Khan had mashed the dog’s paw which resulted in her sustaining a bite. The lawyer noted that his client was willing to compensate Khan by taking her to the hospital but Khan refused the offer.
Meanwhile, Khan who was also present in court stated that she was very scared to pass through Marques’s yard to get to her home because the dog chases after her.
The magistrate subsequently placed Marques on bail and ordered that she return to court on March 31.
