A security guard who was attached to the Tom & Jerry Fun Park admitted to a charge of simple larceny and was fined $50,000 by Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop last week at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on January 24 at Bush Lot, West Berbice where the fun park had been set up, Michael “Dougla” Abraham, 30 of Lot 40 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam stole 20 entrance tickets belonging to his employer, Jefferson Sanza.
Police Chief Prosecutor, ‘B’ Division, Inspector Fazil Karimbaksh informed the court that Abraham was employed as a security guard with Sanza for the past five months. He said too that the defendant stole the tickets and hid them “in his anus.” The tickets were found during a search.
Abraham was also charged with breaking into the jewellery store of Davendra Deonarine on January 23 and stealing 10 silver rings, 15 silver earrings and a quantity of quick silver valued $70,000. He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was placed on $80,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on March 5.
