A 20-year-old Linden woman yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charge of embezzlement of funds at Mazaruni when she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It was alleged that between December 26, 2008 and January 30, 2009 at Mazaruni, Emilla Cumberbatch of 12 Water Lilly Road, Christianburg, Linden, being a clerk employed with Jacqueline Osborne, took into her possession in the name of the said employer, the sum of $1,461,800.
Her matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for February 18.
