Bishops’ High School (BHS) reached the final of the inaugural President College School Invitational secondary school knockout basketball tournament which got underway yesterday at the St. Stanislaus College court.
In the opening encounter, Toquain Vieira’s 18 points were not good enough to prevent Marian Academy from going under to BHS 25-48.
Wainwright Haynes and Tesrick Rambissoon each had 16 points and three rebounds for the winners.
The other scheduled game did not bounce off as Queen’s College did not turn up to face their host St. Stanislaus, thus giving the Brickdam-based school an easy walk into the next round which will be played today at the President’s College court.
St. Stanislaus and Bishops’ then met in a semi-final encounter, with the latter coming out victorious 42-25, subsequently booking their place in the final which will be played tomorrow. No individual scores were available for this encounter.
The organizing committee, made up of fifth form students of President’s College, arranged the tournament as a replacement for their annual inter-secondary schools relay fair which was hampered by the inclement weather. They are also using this basketball tournament as part of their School-Based Assessment (SBA) for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).
