The owner of the Regent Multiplex, Ganesh Ramlall and two other men appeared yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court in connection with a stolen GPL transformer which was found at the mall.
The case was put down for March 2, 2009. The men are on bail in the sum of $400,000 each.
It was Ramlall’s first appearance in relation to the stolen transformer charge. On January 28, Davin Jones appeared in court to answer the charge and was remanded. It was alleged that between October 27 and November 17, 2008 Jones conspired with other persons to steal one KVA transformer belonging to GPL valued at $4,140,000.
Jones, 34, a network designer and father of two who lives at 37 Camp and Croal streets, Georgetown was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to him because of the absence of Ramlall and Rajesh Sanchara with whom he was jointly charged. A warrant was subsequently issued for the two but a lawyer appeared on their behalf in the afternoon. The warrants were then recalled.
Yesterday, statements in the case were not ready and the three are now required to return on March 2.
