-one traced to ex GPL employee
GPL employees yesterday swooped on the Maraj and First Federation buildings and found dozens of illegal power connections including one hooked up to the office of a former power company employee.
Sources told Stabroek News that the raids on the Charlotte Street and Croal Street buildings were carried out yesterday afternoon as part of the corporation’s ongoing drive to stem losses through theft. Sources say there were at least 25 illegal connections in the two buildings and summonses are to be prepared today for the accused to appear in court.
GPL employees did encounter some resistance from the ex power company employee when they tried to conduct their search.
There may also be further jeopardy for the First Federation building as the GPL technicians who participated in the raid were of the view that the building should be condemned. This is to be drawn to the attention of the relevant authorities, sources say.
