Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon will serve as chairman of the National Insurance Scheme Board until a new Board is appointed.
During a press briefing on Thursday President Bharrat Jagdeo announced that Luncheon had resigned. However, after reviewing the situation it was decided that Luncheon would continue, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. Jagdeo said there were still some critical issues to be addressed and as such he had not accepted Luncheon’s resignation but had asked him to reconsider.
Later Luncheon said though he had indicated his “withdrawal from continued service as the Chairman of the Board and efforts were put in place to appoint a new board… the anticipated reconstitution of the Board has been delayed.”
Luncheon is also Secretary to the Cabinet and the Defence Board.
