Two bandits on Monday night drove away with a businessman’s car containing $1.5M cash, minutes after the man exited it to make a deposit at a nearby commercial bank.
Police said in a statement yesterday that at the time of the incident, which occurred at Strand Avenue, New Amsterdam, the businessman’s brother was in the vehicle.
It was later found abandoned minus the cash at High Dam, New Amsterdam.
According to the release, the ranks are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 6.55 pm on Monday during which businessman Jerad Issacs was robbed of cash and his motor vehicle by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Investigations revealed that Isaacs had parked his motor-jeep GHH 768 at Strand Avenue, leaving his brother Gregory Isaacs along with $1.5 million cash in the vehicle, while he went to a commercial bank to make a deposit.
The release stated that the two men rode up on a bicycle and the one with the firearm held Gregory at gunpoint and ordered him out of the vehicle. The bandits then entered the vehicle and drove away.
Investigations are continuing.
