The Anglican Diocese of Guyana is meeting today to nominate and elect a new bishop since the Reverend Randolph George retired in December.
In a press release the Diocese said representatives of parishes and missions who were at the Diocesan Synod in May will assemble at the Mothers Union Day Care Centre in Queenstown to elect a bishop.
The actual nomination and election process will be preceded by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist with Oscar Bazil, Archdeacon of Demerara and Vicar General as the chief celebrant. In keeping with this the Diocese calls on all Anglicans and other Christians to “join us in prayer and asking God to help us to elect the person whom He has chosen to lead his flock here in Guyana.”
The Diocese said with support from George, the chancellor, deputy chancellor and registrar as well as the church, the new bishop would be able to address the ills and challenges of the church as well those impacting the country.
