The 34-year-old father of three charged with murdering his wife appeared yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magis-trate’s Court.
Charles Anthony Woolford of 2041 Humming Bird Street, Festival City, North Ruimveldt who allegedly murdered his beautician wife Latoya Conway Woolford on February 8 was not required to plead.
The 29-year-old Latoya died on Sunday morning after being stabbed on Saturday. The woman’s husband was hospitalized later that day after ingesting a poisonous substance.
She succumbed to a single stab wound just above her navel. Relatives said they received the devastating news at about 7 am from the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).
Reports are that Latoya and her husband had argued and then he allegedly stabbed her, took money from the house and left.
After reportedly hiding for several hours and threatening to commit suicide Charles ingested a poisonous substance and was taken to the GPHC where he was guarded by police.
A relative said that the two were arguing because she wanted to go to the back of South (South Ruimveldt) to do her friend’s nails.
Woolford declined to say anything when given a chance to speak by the magistrate. He has to return to court on March 19.
