The man who allegedly murdered a miner who had intervened as a peacemaker in a scuffle appeared yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It was alleged that on February 6 at Black Water Creek, Cuyuni, 27-year-old Tyrone Fereso also known as ‘Kabaloo’ of Wiruni Creek, Berbice River, murdered Dennis Patterson, also known as ‘Strong Man’. Fereso was not required to plead to the indictable offence when it was read to him.
Police in a statement said that Patterson, 37, of Perseverance, Essequibo Coast had intervened in a scuffle between two men arguing over a pair of jeans when he was fatally stabbed to his chest by one of the men.
The lawmen said that the incident occurred at about 11 am on Friday at Black Water Creek.
When given a chance to speak by the magistrate, Fereso declined.
His case was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for February 18.
