A 24-year-old University of Guyana student on her way home was relieved of cash and other personal items at gunpoint on the Foulis Old Road.
According to the police, Somattie Petamber was walking along the roadway when she was approached by a man who hit her on the hand with what appeared to be a gun. After making certain demands he escaped with $1000, her bag and a cellular phone.
In the second incident 24-year-old Denise Braithwaite of Prince Williams Street, Plaisance and a cousin were sitting on the veranda around midnight, when two men ran in and held them at gunpoint.
The men were walking on the roadway, the police said when they ran into the yard and ended up on the veranda.
They later escaped with a laptop computer and two gold chains.
