After recording outstanding wins against their opponents Grant and Blackette Houses will contest today’s final of the Mackenzie High school (MHS) Inter-House basketball tournament at the school’s basketball court.
The event is part of the fifth form students Physical Education School Based Assessment (SBA) and the four houses, Carr, Grant, Blackette and Cambridge are competing for trophies and medals. Playing in front of the packed venue, Blackette made light work of Carr House beating them 50-32 while Grant House got past Cambridge 49-24.
Junior national player Akeem Kanhai displayed to his colleagues why he is considered one of the best junior players in Guyana as he elegantly guided Grant House past Cambridge.
At half time Grant House held an assailable lead, 22-12. Kanhai ended the game with 24 points inclusive of four three pointers while Chad Edwards contributed with 11 points. In the other game of the day, Blackette House was too much for Carr House as the victors displayed an all round team play, with them getting all their players actively involved. Up for grabs are medals for the winning team in addition to a trophy while the second and third place teams will receive trophies, compliments of Abdulla Hamid Foundation.
