Caribbean Airlines under the slogan ‘The Warmth of the Islands’ spread some more warmth in the rugby fraternity on Friday when they again partnered with the union through the presentation of two tickets at appreciable discounts.
Caribbean Airlines Sales Executive, Kathleen Shuffler Ten-Pow handed over the two tickets to Guyanese Rugby West Indies players Claudius Butts and Albert La Rose to enable their participation in the 19-man Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Barbados Trials Camp.
Shuffler Ten-Pow said, “Caribbean Airlines is pleased to be associated with the association and to give assistance in any way possible.
“We know that the players always step up to the plate and give great performances so we wish them luck,” she added.
Butts, the West Indies Rugby Team’s captain, in the absence of La Rose, expressed gratitude on behalf of his teammate during the presentation ceremony.
“We are extremely appreciative of Caribbean Airlines for the support not only to Guyana but West Indies Rugby,” declared president of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GFRU) Noel Adonis.
“Caribbean Airlines have come onboard every time we have to travel. They have been constant in their support and we would like this to continue,” Adonis said.
He added that the GRFU hoped that a bit more application would be applied to really bring about a winning effort.
The West Indies Rugby Sevens team under the leadership of Butts is set to participate in the Hong Kong Sevens in March.
