A seaman who allegedly broke and entered the home of another man and stole a quantity of items valued over $150,000, was granted bail yesterday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Fidel Gordon, 26, of Coghlan Dam, West Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that between February 4 and 5, Gordon broke and entered the home of Gregory Bess and stole a water pump, a gas stove, a gas cylinder, several buckets, and a quantity of channa and chick feed, totalling $156,800.
The prosecution stated that all the items excepting the channa and chick feed were recovered.
The magistrate subsequently placed Gordon on bail in the sum of $70,000 and ordered that he appear again in court on February 20.
