Fourteen-year-old Christopher Surat continued his impressive performance for Georgetown in the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB)/Nalico/Nafico-sponsored under-15 inter-association limited overs competition yesterday.
After seeing his side demolish West Demerara by 96 runs the previous day at Canal Number Two Primary School ground, Surat grabbed 5-11 with his off spinners, and along with Chanderpaul Hemraj (2-11) and skipper Shaquille Williams (2-20), bowled out East Coast for 106 from 38.5 overs at the Lusignan Community Centre ground.
Only Brian Sattaur (27), Reaz Zaman (25) and Steve Ramdeen 14 were able to resist the bowling of the defending champion spinners who were forced to relax as Surat returned with the bat to hit four fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 61. And along with Tajenarine Chanderpaul’s unbeaten 21 (2×4) they steered their team to a comfortable 10-wicket victory and reserved a place in the semi-finals.
