Dear Editor,
I saw the passion in his eyes as he explained his reasons for feeling the need to run forty miles along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway in an effort to bring awareness to the plight of young children who are infected by the HIV/AIDS virus.
Some had described his intentions as over ambitious, attempted only by those of unsound mind, but Kayode McKinnon’s determined efforts and accomplishments on February 14 towards this worthy cause were truly inspiring. The fact that he also used his influence as a member of the Guyana National Football team (Golden Jaguars) to promote these efforts, should inspire others of influence to act, and help bring about awareness of the many ills that plague this beautiful land of ours. In the words of Bishop Randolph George, “We were put on this earth to be of service to each other and to do so in a humble, sincere way not looking for rewards but to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters.” My good friend Kayode McKinnon has willingly embraced this statement and others should too.
