Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson last week fined a handyman who pleaded guilty to simple larceny of $25,000 when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
On February 14, at Bourda Market, Mark Griffith, 32, of 169 Campbell Street, Albouystown stole one pail of full-cream milk valued $20,000 from Kissoon Sookwah, his former employer.
Griffith told the court that he wanted some money to celebrate his birthday on February 15 and he did not know how to approach Sookwah and ask for it. He said he stole the milk and had planned to sell it to get “birthday money.” Griffith then added that he was unable to sell the milk as he was arrested.
He was fined or given the alternative of nine months imprisonment.
