Following two weeks of debate on the Minister of Finance Ashni Singh’s speech and the consideration of the estimates of expenditure in the Committee of Supply, the National Assembly last evening passed the Appropriation Bill 2009 to pave the way for expenditure.
The amount covered in the Appropriation Bill is $118,483,761, which is necessary to meet the expenditure of Guyana for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2009, in accordance with Article 218 of the Constitution and Section 17 of the Fiscal Management and Accountability Act 2003.
The Appropriation Bill seeks to provide for the issue from the Consolidated Fund of the sums for these expenditures.
