Rain had the final say on the opening day of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Castrol sponsored Inter-county Under-15 cricket competition at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground in Essequibo yesterday.
Defending champions Demerara who are being led by Shaquille Williams, was set to face home team Essequibo in the first of two limited overs matches at the venue, but heavy overnight and continuous rain kept the teams indoors at the new Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) hostel.
Weather permitting, the two teams will battle in the second match from 0930 hrs at the same venue today, before Essequibo who has Ricardo Adams at the helm, face Berbice at the same venue next Tuesday and Wednesday.
