-Jets and Royals continue to dominate

Amelia’s Ward Jets and Victory Valley Royals continued their dominance of the Pioneer Construction-sponsored Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) senior club championships last weekend at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard-court.
The Jets got the better of Alleyne’s Retrieve Raiders 63-56 while Royals defeated the Patriots 60-50.
The win was morale booster for the Jets who had lost their two previous games in the tournament.
The Raiders, however, are yet to chalk up a win.
Led by an all round team performance, the Amelia’s Ward team seemed determined to maintain its dominance over the Raiders whom they defeated n the first round.
At half time the score was 31-30 in favor of the Jets.
Alister Webster enjoyed his best game of the tournament netting a game-high 20 points while Akeem Kanhai scored 11.
Point guard Kevin “Two Feet” Joseph chipped in with seven points.
For the losers, Louis James contributed 18 points while Devon Gittens and Mark Peters supported with 11 and seven points respectively.
Meanwhile Dwayne “Brown Sugar” Roberts once again proved to be unstoppable as he led Victory Valley Royals to their second consecutive victory in the second round.
Roberts scored the game-high 18 points.
The game was close through out up to half time with the scores tied at 25 the Royals were able to pull away in the closing minutes of the game.
Orlando Glasgow, 13 points and Anson Durant and Lawrence DaCosta with 11 points each lent support to Roberts.
For the Patriots, Domain Allen had a game-high 20 points and former national player Alwyn Wilson10.
