– seepages on pitch, no play on final day
Having lost five of their previous seven encounters, including four consecutive defeats, host Guyana had to settle for first innings points in their ninth round encounter against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) as seepages on the pitch prevented any play on the final day.
A man-of-the-match innings from West Indies middle order batsman Narsingh Deonarine and Assad Fudadin who struck career best innings of 198 and 93 respectively had guided Guyana to 497-7, their highest score to date on the penultimate day.
Facing a deficit of 243 runs when they began their second innings, CCC were set to resume their innings on 67-1, with Jamal Smith on 31 and Nikolai Parris 15 on the final morning, but seepages through the covers caused by overnight rain forced the umpires to call it quits at 14:00hrs, without a ball being bowled.
