The deadline for the “letter of commitment” to be sent to the Caribbean Basketball Confederation which indictes Guyana’s willingness to meet the requirements to host this year’s Caricom basketball championships has passed.
Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) president Usie Richards had made it mandatory for the letter to be signed and returned by March 9.
The letter of commitment was supposed to be signed by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) and the Government of Guyana but the two parties are yet to put ink to paper.
According to source close to Director of Sport, Neil Kumar, the government’s representative, met with president of the GABF Godwin McPherson on Monday as planned but it is unclear whether a settlement was reached.
When contacted yesterday, McPherson said “there is no word as yet” and efforts to contact Kumar proved futile.
