At its last meeting on Monday, Cabinet cleared some five contracts including one for $79.9 million for the supply of fuel and lubricants to the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.
Speaking at his weekly press conference, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon also announced that new roads will be built in Vigilance north, East Coast Demerara.
Drains will be dug and structures built in the same community to the tune of $46.4 million. In Block ‘A’, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, new roads will also be built and old ones upgraded at a cost of $31.5 million.
In Region Three, in the village of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara, some $52.4 million will be spent on the upgrading of roads.
Meanwhile, according to Luncheon, some US$318,000-odd (approx. $63.6 million) was awarded to the Ministry of Health for the purchasing of Sprinkles, which is a supplement given free to pregnant and lactating mothers.
