The president and executive members of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) would like to offer congratulations to umpire Dhieraindranauth Somwaru on his appointment as the fourth umpire for the upcoming two One Day Internationals (ODI) at the National Stadium between England and the West Indies this weekend.

This appointment, the first of its kind for a Berbice umpire, is a major achievement in the career of this outstanding Berbice umpire who only last week was named Umpire-of-the-Year at the second annual Berbice awards ceremony.

“Over the years, Somwaru has proven himself to be an astute student of the game and an outstanding role model to his peers and the BCBC is confident that his achievement would be the start of several others including his ODI and Test debut in the near future.  We wish him well and are confident that he would make all Berbicians proud,” the BCBC said.
