Cabinet at its last meeting has given the go-ahead to seven contracts including one that will see the installation of street lighting from Providence to Timehri along the East Bank Demerara.
The value of this contract is $137.6 million and will be carried out through the Ministry of Public Works, Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon said yesterday.
Luncheon revealed that four infrastructure projects specially relating to drainage and irrigation were given the “no objection” by Cabinet. These are awards for the procurement of civil works for control structures and access roads at Lot 3 Golden Grove/ Victoria to the tune of $202 million, at Crabwood Creek in Region 6 at the cost of $ 308.6 million, at Vergenoegen, Bonasika, Den Amstel and Fellowship valued at $385.1 million and at Vreed- en- Hoop and Jalousie to the tune of $267.1 million in Region 3.
Meanwhile, in the health sector, the supply and delivery of drugs to the tune of US$1.798 million was given the green light. Additionally, the award for consultancy services dealing with hazardous industrial and health care waste for US$363,900 was also given the go-ahead.
