(Trinidad Express) Trade fairs from India will soon be a thing of the past following a decision by the Trinidad and Tobago Government to deny work permits to the merchants. The move has sent over 50 Indian traders now in this country racing to offload the goods they have brought in over the past two years. A sellout sale was continuing up to Monday night at Lall’s Complex, Debe.
V-J Star Trading Ltd is the fair organiser and its spokesman, Vijay Ramlal, said confirmation of the decision came in a letter from the Indian High Commission.
The letter stated that the local Work Permit Committee had decided that all participants in trade shows must have work permits before applying for a visa, and no longer would a work permit be granted to those coming for trade shows.
