An accident yesterday afternoon involving a minibus and a taxi saw several persons being rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital with minor injuries.
The accident occurred at the junction of Conversation Tree and the East Coast Public Road just after 1:30 pm yesterday.
Based on information received, the Route 44 minibus, BKK 6869, was reportedly heading west along the East Coast highway and the car, HB 4128 which was heading in an eastern direction, was attempting to turn south into Conversation Tree when the collision occurred. After the collision, the car careened into the bushes while the bus ended up at the side of the road. Both vehicles appeared to be damaged beyond repair.
Stabroek News was told that there were 12 persons in the bus while the driver of the car was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Based on the damage to the vehicles and skid marks on the road, it appears as if speeding was a factor in this accident.
