Guyana’s middleweight champion Howard “Battersea Bomber” Eastman has inked his contract to fight Lennox “Too Sharp” Allen for the vacant Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) super middleweight title.
The clash will take place on April 25 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall when the GBBC once again collaborates with S and S Promotions.
At the Main Street Plaza hotel yesterday Eastman signed his contract while Stabroek Sports understands that Allen, who resides in the USA, has already done so.
According to the GBBC, the fighters’ purse is $1.8M and the winner will fight Guyana’s first world champion, Andrew “Six Head” Lewis.
In February, the boxing board teamed up with S and S Promotions to stage the bout titled “Heat Wave” where Allen was down to face Leon “The Lion” Gilkes.
However it was reported that the US-based boxer had injured his hand while training and Eastman replaced him.
The middleweight champion made light work of Gilkes and, as promised by the GBBC, he now fights Allen.
But things took a turn after Allen could not make the said middleweight and as such the board decided that they would fight for the vacant super middleweight title instead.
Meanwhile, the card will also have a Linden invasion with the mining town sending three of their top boxers, who will all be making their professional debuts.
Former national and amateur champion Randy Tello is set to face Kwesi Jones in a middleweight contest over four rounds.
Debby Tyson and Avlon Scotland, two `green downs’ to the sport; will clash in a heavyweight contest, while Shondell Alfred, Guyana’s female bantamweight champion will face Stephney George.
