In yet another incident at the Georgetown Prisons, an inmate was late yesterday stabbed with an ice pick and was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Fidel Gordon is hospitalized with a wound under his left arm after being stabbed with an ice-pick allegedly by another prisoner. Details on how the incident occurred were unclear but Gordon was taken to the medical institution at about 6 pm yesterday. He is in the open ward.
Such incidents have raised questions about how prisoners are able to access objects which can be used to inflict harm to others and themselves.
Last Thursday, 18-year-old Ruben Singh sustained a minor head injury during a fight with a fellow inmate at the Georgetown Prisons and was hospitalized at the GPH. Reports were that Singh was involved in an altercation with a fellow prisoner who allegedly hit him in the head with an unidentified object.
