In their first match after being selected for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)/Clico sponsored Under-15 limited overs tournament the national Under-15 team defeated St. Leonard’s Boys School (SLBS) of Barbados by six wickets at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence yesterday.
SLBS in their third match of their tour to Guyana, won the toss and were bowled out for 152 from the final delivery of their 40 overs, to which the national Under-15 team replied with 154-4 from 32.3 overs.
Ricardo Harewood (31), Kemar Gibbons (25; 5×4) and Lemar Joseph 21 (2×4) were the leading batsmen for SLBS.
Skipper Shaquille Williams (2-25) and Ricardo Adams (2-27) held the reins on the Barbados school batsmen.
Guyana were shakily placed on 4-2 in the second over, before Chanderpaul Hemraj (73; 11×4, 1×6) and Sunil Rupee (33; 1×4) joined forces and added 97 for the second wicket from 22.4 overs.
Adams who struck two fours in an unbeaten 18 and Veerapen Permaul who was on three, guided their team to 154-4 and a comfortable victory with over seven overs to spare, against the bowling of Hinds who took 2-25 from 5.3 overs for SLBS.
SLBS will be in action today at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, where they will oppose an East Coast Under-17 team from 0930 hrs.
