A Canada-based Guyanese, who was heading to New York, was yesterday morning discovered with over a kilo of cocaine strapped to his body by police at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.
He will be charged shortly, the police said in a news release last night. The police said that at about 7:50 am yesterday, ranks of the police Narcotics Branch at the CJIA found four packets containing 1 kilogram, 136 grams of cocaine strapped to the body of the man.
He was an outgoing passenger on a flight bound for New York when a search at the security checkpoint unearthed the drugs. He is in police custody and will be charged shortly, the lawmen stated.
