Dear Editor,
My attention was caught by a property for sale advertisement in the SN issue of April 1. It is my opinion that the “Colonial Home” is indeed a unique beauty which represents a part of our heritage, and whoever becomes the new owner down the line, should preserve it. It has Demerara Shutters, which gives it the entire beauty package.
Considering its prime location, I also see a lot of potential for generating business, and with a possible change in colour it could become a much more visible landmark, the name coming to mind being ‘Cafe Colonial.’ The interior could also display some historical artifacts.
Cpt Gerry Gouveia and other private sector citizens might regard it as worth considering. It was great news to learn that the Duke Lodge is now part of the Roraima Group which plays an important role in the tourism sector, and the name in itself is a killer for the foreign market.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
