The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has applauded spectators across the Caribbean for their support of the West Indies team during the recent Digicel Series against England
President of the WICB, Dr Julian Hunte, said that the support for the team was outstanding and proved that fans across the region were willing to come out and give the players their full backing.
“What we witnessed was a fascinating series of cricket between the West Indies and England. We saw some amazing play on the field and the crowds came out to support the teams,” Dr Hunte said.
“We want to thank the supporters for the way in which they came out and added colour and atmosphere to the matches. We also have supporters in the diasporas who are with the players through thick and thin. We look forward to more good and solid performances from the West Indies players and more support from the fans.”
There were very good crowds during the five-match Digicel Test Series and there were near capacity crowds for the Digicel T20 International in Trinidad and the five Digicel One-Day Internationals in Guyana, Barbados and St Lucia.
The West Indies won the Test series 1-0 to take the Wisden Trophy, won the lone T20 International and lost the ODIs 3-2.
