The IPL and the News Media Coalition said on Thursday they had agreed terms of coverage for the forthcoming season, and the IPL said it would extend a deadline for media to apply to cover the event by 24 hours.
The inaugural IPL, a Twenty20 competition with big prize money for the world’s top players, was launched in India in 2008 but boycotted by major news agencies including Reuters because of restrictions on the use of material on certain Websites.
India’s cricket board decided to move this year’s season outside India because of security concerns, as it coincides with the country’s general elections.
