Police in Berbice were on Saturday morning able to nab a suspect following a robbery which took place in New Street, New Amsterdam.

The police in a release said that the incident occurred around 8 am when Ryan Jairam was robbed by two men who were armed with knives. Jairam, of Port Mourant, was walking along New Street when the two men held him up and took away his cell phone and $8,000.

Police ranks responded to the report made and arrested a suspect based on a given description.  The suspect has since been identified as one of the perpetrators, the release stated.
