A Kuru Kururu man died early yesterday morning after he was struck down by a motor lorry on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway, police said, while noting that road fatalities are up compared to the same period last year. In a statement, the police identified the man as David King, 24, who they said was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
According to the statement, the accident occurred at around 4:10am yesterday, when King, who was walking along the roadway, was struck down by motor lorry, GLL 4844.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigation. Meanwhile, the statement said that statistics indicate that there have been a total of 28 road fatalities for this year, compared to 21 for the corresponding period last year.
