National female Under-19 captain Shemaine Campbell has been selected to lead Berbice in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Female Inter-county 50-overs a side tournament.
Campbell, who recently returned from St. Kitts, where she led the national Under-19 team to the runner-up position in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Under-19 tournament, will have the services of experienced female cricketer Erva Giddings. Campbell will also have her national Under-19 teammates in Nermala and Hermala Sewdat, Kampa Mentore and Jacqueline Singh, along with another experienced female national cricketer in all rounder Tremaine Smartt.
The tournament starts today with Demerara opposing Essequibo at the Police Sports Club ground. Berbice play their opening game against Essequibo tomorrow at the same venue, and then go up against defending champions Demerara at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda Ground on Saturday.
The Berbice side, managed by Angela Haniff and coached by Michael Franco, comprises: Shemaine Campbell (Captain), Tracy Miller, Natasha Gangoo, Erva Giddings, Malanie Henry, Nikita Toney, Kampa Mentore, Jacqueline Singh, Inga Henry, Staffie Rodney, Tremaine Smartt, Shenella McBean, Nermala Sewdat and Hermala Sewdat.
