The mother of the two children who perished in Saturday’s Hadfield Street fire was released on station bail yesterday shortly after a post-mortem examination (PME) was performed on the remains.
The PME which was done during the morning hours at the Georgetown Hospital Mortuary by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh revealed that three-year-old Ewan Munroe and his brother one-year-old Isaiah Munroe died from smoke inhalation and burns.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud yesterday afternoon confirmed the woman’s release adding that she has to report to the police at stipulated times as the investigation continues.
The two children lived in a one-bedroom shack with their parents.
The mother is five months pregnant.
According to reports, Anita Ramdeo had left the sleeping children in the home which was lit with a flambeau lamp and ventured to a nearby shop.
When she returned, the home was on fire and despite the efforts of residents the children could not be saved.
