Dear Editor,
I was particularly pleased to read that the Office of the Auditor General’s forensic audit into the assets of employees at the Customs and Trade Administration (CTA) is well underway. It is time for similar exercises to be conducted with respect to the affairs of politicians and others sailing in officialdom in Guyana as well as civil servants and police officers. This bold display of will and toughness with respect to investigating these Customs officers should become the modus operandi for the investigation of all government officials and civil servants.
The people of Guyana deserve better. Corruption creates significant negative costs to society. This should be an example for all levels of society.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Maxwell
