Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted $50,000 each to two 17-year-old boys accused of stealing a motorcycle while it was parked on the road.
The teens pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to them last week in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that between April 10 and 11, the teens stole the bike, valued $200, 000, the property of Winston Brotherson.
The prosecution told the court that Brotherson had parked his bike on the road and had left for some time. When he returned he discovered it missing. He immediately made a report to the police station.
The prosecution said a police mobile patrol soon found the boys with the motorcycle. They were then arrested and later charged.
The magistrate ordered the teens to return to court on May 21.
