A 40-year-old prospective bridegroom was yesterday placed on a bond to keep the peace and ordered to pay $5,000 court costs, when his bride-to-be decided against testifying against him in an assault charge.
Peter Bilison of 17 Soesdyke also pleaded not guilty to the charges of threatening behaviour and unlawful assault when they were read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on April 17 at Georgetown, Bilison used threatening language to Camille Chetson and on the same day he allegedly unlawfully assaulted her.
When given a chance to speak in court yesterday, the virtual complainant said she no longer wished to pursue the matter.
“My worship,” she told Magistrate Robertson, “I want dun de story. We getting marry de 1st ah August.”
The unemployed Bilison was then placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years and was ordered to pay $5,000 court costs.
