Dear Editor,
I was most disappointed with the lack of live international (US/BBC/ Al-jazeera) TV coverage for the Sunmmit of the Americas. Apparently they carried Obama’s speech, but I wondered whether the Americans knew where their President was, and unlike the G8 and G20 this was a band of poor countries mixed with problematic ones.
The cultural presentation was a kaleidoscope of colours, wonderfully choreographed with each segment professional and different. The costumes were rich and extravagant. Not only our folks in the diaspora were robbed of some coverage, but the region lost out in advertising its rich legacy to potential tourists.
Congratulations to the organizers despite the lack of international TV coverage.
Yours faithfully,
