Brazil’s Emerson has Milan contract cancelled

MILAN, (Reuters) – AC Milan midfielder Emerson had  his contract cancelled yesterday after the Brazilian asked to  leave the San Siro following an unhappy two-year spell.

The former AS Roma and Juventus player joined Milan from  Real Madrid in 2007 but failed to secure a first-team place.

“AC Milan announces that footballer Emerson asked for and  obtained an immediate resolution of his contract with the club,  due to personal reasons,” a Milan statement said.

The departure of the 33-year-old was widely expected and  came on the same day as Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso  returned to full training after having knee surgery in December.
