The file on a forgery allegation pertaining to Supreme Court Registrar Sita Ramlal is back with the police after the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recommended further investigation for the second time in the last two weeks.
The revised file was only returned to the DPP last week but when contacted yesterday Crime Chief Seelall Persaud informed Stabroek News that it came back earlier this week with instructions to conduct further investigations.
The US Embassy had contacted officers at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary last month with a report that former GDF Chief of Staff Norman McLean had presented adoption papers to officials there in a visa application for a child.
The US embassy conducted an investigation and called in the police shortly after the documents were presented and McLean was questioned.
However after being questioned by ranks attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) he was released on station bail. McLean had declined to comment when contacted by Stabroek News while Ramlal has denied any wrongdoing through a statement from her lawyer.
