Businessman Roshan Khan has secured an injunction from the High Court barring the owners of Starlite Drive-in Cinema from making excessive noise during certain hours of the night, and particularly next weekend when a chutney show is expected to come off at the venue.
Justice Dawn Gregory-Barnes granted the interim injunction on Thursday after hearing the ex-parte application by Khan. The businessman had previously complained about the noise emanating from the venue prior to the court action.
The injunction restrains Maurice Sukhoo of Starlite Drive-in from consenting and permitting unreasonable and excessive noise by music and vocals being generated continuously through electronically amplified speakers in the compound at Montrose, East Coast Demerara. Specifically, the court order stipulates that music is not played excessively between 10 pm on May 2nd and 2:30 am on May 3rd, interfering with the comfortable and convenient enjoyment of Khan’s home.
The matter continues later this month.
