Dear Editor,
Mr Royston King’s letter about impediments to improving the city’s drainage was quite interesting (‘There are several impediments to improving the city’s drainage,’ SN 22.4.09). His reliance on Mr Keith Burrowes to come up with a new model to improve service delivery speaks volumes about city manag-ement.
He commented on squatters and littering, and said that many of the canals in the city had been filled in for various reasons, making Georgetown vulnerable to overtopping. Who made these decisions? Who will seek to undo some of them? Are we seeing both government and city facing the same problems from their fellow Guyanese in any attempt to improve some things? So when and who decides when the people are part of the problem and not the politicians?
