Dear Editor,
As I was looking through my Stabroek News on April 14, 2009, I came across a headline which read ‘Van West Charles to return at month end, likely to vie for PNC top post.’ Dr Charles is free to return to Guyana at any time, but why is he returning to Guyana as it is alleged to vie for the top post of the PNC?
Where was Dr Charles during the past nineteen years, when the Guyanese people were suffering and crying out for representation and leadership?
We do not need Dr Charles to lead the PNC when we have loyal dedicated leaders right here with us in Guyana − leaders like Mr Stanley Ming, Mr Winston Murray, Mr Aubrey Norton and others who stood with us through the good times and the bad, and suffered as a consequence.
In my letter to Stabroek News of February 10, 2009, I suggested that the PNC elect Mr Stanley Ming as their leader, and that the party give him their full support and go on and win the next general election.
Mr Ming is an honest, decent and respectable member of our society. He possesses all the attributes of a good leader.
It is true that Mr Ming was not a member of the YSM, but that should not disqualify him from being the leader of the PNC and presidential candidate.
Mr Ming has the respect and confidence of the people of every section of the country and gets their votes. He is the right person for the job.
Yours faithfully,
Eustace Moore
