Achievers and Bush Lot will meet in the final of the West Berbice Cricket Association (WBCA)/ Buddy’s International Hotel/ Regency Suites Under-23 limited overs competition at a date to be announced, following their wins in last weekend’s semifinals.
At Blairmont Community Centre ground match between D’Edward and Bush Lot, the latter defeated the former by five wickets, while Achievers defeated Number Two by 147 runs in their semifinal clash at the Lovely Lass ground.
The Bush Lot/D’Edward match was reduced to 25 overs a side, owing to early morning rain and D’Edward winning the toss and batting first, were bowled out for 101 off the final delivery of the innings.
R. Soughtivan (24) and D. Harrinarine (11) were the only batsmen to reach double figures against the bowling of Oumsh Ramkissoon (3-12) along with Krishendat Ramoo and Agnadeo Sooklall who grabbed (2-15) and (2-11) respectively.
Bush Lot in reply reached 103-5 from 24.5 overs. Pramnauth Ganesh (34), Ramoo (23) not out were the principal scorers against the bowling of N. France who took 2-20.
In the second semifinal at the Lovely Lass ground, Achievers winning the toss and taking first strike against Number Two, were bowled out for 215 from 39 overs in their 40 overs a side encounter.
Pace bowler Travis Perry (41), Arthley Bailey (40), Asif Khan (38) and Raffel Estriado (30) were the principal scorers against the bowling of Akram Rahaman (3-43) and G. Premsook (2-36).
When Number Two began their reply, they found the bowling of national Under-19 fast bowler Keyron Fraser who took 4-27, Khan’s 3-10 and Perry’s 3-13 too hot to handle and folded for 68. Only Sharad Gafoor (27) and G. Premsook (13) managed to reach double figures. The final will be played at a date to be announced.
